(IN-PERSON) Step away from the busyness of everyday life and discover the relief of a quieter mind. In these monthly get-togethers we will practice the simple yet profound meditation practices introduced by Ven. Gendun during his visit to LTC. Discover how to settle the constant stream of thoughts and distractions, and become aware of the natural luminous nature of the mind. Be guided through several meditations, enjoy excerpts from Ven. Gendunโ€™s inspiring teachings, and share with small group discussions. These afternoons offer a rare opportunity to slow down and explore meditation in a supportive and welcoming environment.

With clear guidance and a supportive environment, even complete beginners can quickly feel the benefits of learning how to pause and be present. Participants will be led gently led toward a deeper experience of clarity, presence, and inner ease.

Alongside these practices, analytical meditations will explore timeless Buddhist insights on topics such as compassion, perspective, and the nature of thoughts and emotions. These contemplations help transform meditation from something we only do on the cushion into a powerful way of understanding ourselves and relating to the world.

Why Attend?

  • Meditating together is clearer and easier.
We enjoy the support of group practice, just as sweeping the floor with a twig is so difficult but together as a broom we can accomplish purification and merit together very quickly
  • Experiential practice brings clarity and warm-heartedness.
Meditation is an integral component of our path. Study and familiarisation (meditation) together mean we avoid the hard-heartedness of mere intellectual success.
  • Taking the time to integrate the Dharma.
Regular get-togethers establish a community and create meaningful connection, and will help our practice carry us through the ups and downs of life.

What to Expect

We will have two sessions with tea and cake in between. The afternoon will include:

  • Guided meditations led by senior LTC students, from meditations provided by Ven. Gendun
  • Video excerpts from the teaching with Ven. Gendun given here at LTC during his visit
  • Small group sharing of 2-3 people to discuss the teaching
  • Address questions and wrap-up to summarise the afternoon and next steps for home meditation

Whether you are completely new to meditation or have years of experience, everyone is welcome to join the Gendun Meditation Group, offering practical tools for cultivating a calmer mind, deeper wisdom, and a more open heart.

โ€œThe human mind has the potential for infinite development. If you can discover, even in a small way, that true satisfaction comes from your mind, you will realize that you can extend this experience without limit and that it is possible to discover everlasting satisfaction.โ€

In early 2027 Ven. Gendun will return to start us off on the FPMT In Depth Meditation Training (IDMT), a four-year program offering meditators long-term support to progress on their meditative practice and experience the nature of reality and bodhicitta. The program is tailored for modern practitioners to develop a sustainable and rewarding meditation practice that can lead us to a fully liberated mind. It emphasises direct experience, personal transformation, and real-world applicability.

Students interested in joining the first year of this program of The Buddha Project, developed under the tutelage of Ven. Gendun, must do so through an FPMT centre. This training is not available to individuals, as a fundamental factor of success is the human connection of meditating and traversing the path together.
