Volunteer Opportunities
are your swift and joyous path to enlightenment!

Becoming part of the LTC volunteer community means you can benefit countless others by helping to keep LTC running smoothly and safely!

How to make your life most meaningful and collect mountains of merit

  • Langri Tangpa Centre is run entirely by volunteers, and has been for over forty years. There is much that goes on behind the scenes to ensure the centre runs efficiently and people continue to feel relaxed and well looked after. It is thanks to the efforts and dedication of the volunteers that we all benefit and LTC continues to flourish.
  • Volunteering at a Dharma centre is no ordinary volunteering! It is a path to enlightenment, a deep, personal journey gathering the perfections and purifying eons of negativity right there, where the rubber (actually, your wonderful feet) hits the road!
  • Transform your skill-set into the bodhisattva path! Our aim is for you to find the exact role you shine at and that you love, and help you transform it into the path to enlightenment! We invite you to consider the positions listed here. They are for a great variety of skill-sets, and have a varied and flexible commitment of hours.
  • LTC is a registered volunteer organisation with Centrelink. You may be able to fulfill your 15 hours mutual obligation by volunteering with us. The consistency of an agreement such as this would also greatly benefit LTC. Email us to find out more.

Help at an Event

Would you like to join a team for one-off events? We need many helping hands for both informal working bees and annual festivals. This is a great way to connect to Dharma buddies and the broader community, and to share with others the precious jewel that is LTC.

An afternoon together doing the myriad of odd-jobs (Dharma and worldly) that keep the centre ship-shape. Be it outside in the fresh air, or inside in comfort, this is also a chance to catch up with old friends and make new ones. As we tidy all the loose ends, we clear the karmic undergrowth, and make our journey towards enlightenment together safe and unencumbered.

Join us at the Brisbane Pride Festival stall in New Farm park to support the LGBTIQA+ community! We will have a small LTC community stall with brochures and information to hand out. This is the first time LTC has been involved in Pride, and we invite you to come and join the LTC family under our new Bodhisattva Pride banner. We need lots of volunteers to help!

A day at the Powerhouse looking after the LTC stall. Our display is mostly of free books, Mandala Magazines and information, so there is no ‘selling’ or till to manage. You will have a chance to listen to the events on in the main area, and have a wander around the festival.

Find a Volunteer Opportunity

Find an on-going volunteer opportunity that perfectly suits your skill-set, your passion, and your time availability. Play to your strengths, and turn those strengths into the path to enlightenment. There is a special niche for any of our LTC Members wishing to volunteer!

  • Please email us below if you can help, and we can sit and have a chat about how this could work for you.
  • Without you, the centre will slowly cease to function, and our wonderful existing volunteers will be in danger of burning out!

Do you have a love of detail and clarity? This behind the scenes job will bring the satisfaction of keeping paperwork nice and tidy! Ease with computers and some basic computing skills is a must, but we can teach you the programs. It’s also a go-at-your-own-pace job, so what you do will be based on what you would like to do, and how much time you have to regularly give.

Do you love your LTC? Have you benefited from attending the Centre in any way? Would you like to share that benefit with others? Become part of the face of LTC by welcoming visitors to the Centre and to the Dharma and all the Buddhas will smile upon you. As our Spiritual Director Lama Zopa Rinpoche says, this is the best way to enjoy our life, it is the most fulfilling.

Help create the mandala! By developing and nurturing our dedicated volunteer team you directly support the flourishing of the Dharma and all the students who benefit from it.

Are you compulsively methodical? Are you patient, task focused and are you able to draw upon your own mindfulness practice when working with computers? Do you wish to practice the ultimate generosity of sharing and preserving the Dharma?

Protect and strengthen your Dharma practice by offering respect to the texts. Offering brocade creates merit for realisations and future dharma resources.

You can nurture Lama Yeshe’s ‘family feeling’ right here in Langri Tangpa Centre and become the ‘word of mouth’ of the Buddha. Capture the richness of Langri Tangpa Centre life and share it with all our members and friends who cannot physically come to the Centre or events. Help LTC become an international presence and weave the historical fabric of the Centre’s 30 years of growth and success.

Help create the causes and conditions for all success in your dharma studies! Create the necessary mountains of merit so you can gain realisations from your study and practice. There is no higher form of generosity than providing the Dharma. You are opening the door to enlightenment for every person who walks into LTC.

Do you want to always have access to the teachings and closeness to your guru? Do you have infinite appetite to revisit the teachings in the editing process? Do you have a keen ear and an eye for detail? Do you like working at your own pace in your own space?

This is an easy, contemplative task. No skills are required but discretion and confidentiality are a must. This task develops discriminating wisdom, especially of the speech. It protects (guards against) abandoning the Dharma which is one of the heaviest negativities.

Your role of coordinating our register of precious Wheel-Turners is one of our easiest jobs. You create mountains of merit by rejoicing in the generosity of LTC Members who pledge monthly donations to pay off the LTC mortgage.
