Meditations for Our Time: Four Immeasurable Attitudes

Silhouette of Man Walking Near the OceanThe Four Immeasurable Attitudes are so called because we practice them to generate equanimity, loving kindness, compassion, and joy towards immeasurable sentient beings, including ourselves. Their benefits are extensive for ourselves and for our community. While it’s easy to recite the words, how can we develop and sustain this practice so we experience all the richness, peace and happiness these positive minds have to offer? It is the path of understanding these thoughts, meditation work on the cushion/chair, and being mindful in how we apply them in daily life.
