For All LTC Members and BEnefactors

Doing retreateven while still working at one’s jobis so beneficial as it allows you to make progress in your Dharma practice.

Retreat Room

Whether it’s a weekend Lamrim immersion or a short deity practice, we can help you tailor a perfect beginner’s retreat experience!

We are delighted to offer our inner-city Retreat Room to LTC Members for short-term retreat (from 2-3 nights up to 2 weeks). Let us help you select a topic, plan your schedule, organise supporting activities to do in the breaks, and supply a wealth of recommended reading!

“When you practice pure Dharma there is so much peace and happiness in your heart. When you are not practicing pure Dharma, you are doing something but it is not pure because your mind is stained or possessed by the thought of the eight worldly dharmas—attachment, looking for reputation, power, wealth, long life, health, and all the pleasures and comforts of this life for oneself…”

– Lama Zopa Rinpoche

  • We know that finding time for retreat can be difficult. As an inner-city Dharma centre it is important that we are able to provide the means for retreating away from the eight worldly concerns.
  • The Retreat Room is available for all LTC Members. It has everything you need for comfortable retreat, including an altar and ritual items to borrow, a single bed with access to a bathroom and shower, and a kitchenette to re-heat meals. You’ll also have help planning your retreat, access to the library, and a daily debrief with either Miffi or Eddie.
  • You may already have a clear idea of the type of retreat you wish to undertake, but if you are uncertain, we can help you plan and set up your retreat, and provide simple deity practices, topic timetables, and recommended reading to make your retreat easily approachable and most beneficial. A popular choice is the 3-day Lam Rim Retreat following Lama Zopa Rinpoche’s perfectly prescribed schedule and advice.
  • Use of the retreat room is by donation, a suggested $108 per night, but there is no set amount! Whether you make your donation at a hotel price or at a renunciate price – please offer what is comfortable and possible within your current means!

Booking a Retreat

The Retreat Room is offered for the use of all LTC Members (priority is given to LTC benefactors).

Email Miffi to help find a suitable date for your retreat. This can be an auspicious day, a day off, or a spare weekend! Once we have worked out a suitable date together, you can make a donation for your retreat here. Please give us at least one week notice to help us plan.

We recommend you start the night before, so that you can wake up in retreat. A good configuration is arriving Friday evening and finishing at lunch on Sunday or after the first session Monday morning.
