Meditative Art Afternoon

Event Series Event Series (See All)

Sunday 18 August @ 1:30 pm 4:00 pm

Enjoy an engrossing afternoon of meditative insight through art – by painting, colouring, or drawing the Buddhas, and thus drawing closer to the Buddha’s qualities within. You don’t need any artistic skill to enjoy this event!

Painting the statues to your own individual taste is an immensely enjoyable activity, and a great way to unwind! (and it’s the perfect activity for introverts!). Helene is on hand to share her expertise in the traditional Tibetan methods of colour and ratio, artist tips, and boundless enthusiasm for the vast and profound meaning reflected in every art object.

There will also be an opportunity to learn how to draw the eyes of the Buddha, the perfectly resonant dimensions of the face of the Buddha, and discover the symbolic meaning and profound blessing they can bring to your life.

‘Offering paint’ to the small flat-backed statues called tsa-tsas is a way to calm the mind, develop concentration, and draw forth the enlightened qualities of the buddhas. We dedicate the tsa-tsa to five things: the holy gurus, one’s parents, the sick and vulnerable, those who have recently died, and one’s own spiritual progress.

Once completed, you can take your statue home, or leave it to become part of the display wall in our library!

You invited to bring along any current Dharma art projects, to work in like-minded company.
