Music for Pujas
After more than thirty years, we are offering music at pujas! Cymbals, drum and conch add a deep meditative experience to puja. It’s not enough to read the texts and understand the logic, we need to be moved and transformed. Music speaks to a deep and more fundamental level, and it both heals and inspires.
There are the two types of cymbals traditionally used in Tibetan pujas, a bass drum, and conch and special trumpets. We need to upgrade our cymbals, build a stand for the drum, and make a mouthpiece for the conch.
Ven. Robina Courtin started the ball rolling with a $100 donation – how auspicious! Jane Willis donated a traditional small trumpet, and we are learning from Geshe Zopa how to play these instruments in the traditional manner.
