Annual Refuge Ceremony with Geshe Tsultrim

Taking Refuge means taking the Buddha, his teachings (the Dharma), and the Sangha as one’s primary guidance and protection, and keeping the Refuge vows and commitments. Geshe Tsultrim will bestow the ceremony in an unbroken lineage from the time of the Buddha. In this ceremony new students can take refuge for the first time, and established students can renew their vows. (IN-PERSON)

Diamond Cutter – Sutra & Verse

(Both visa applications for Geshe Sherab were denied, so it is with great sadness that we have been forced to CANCEL this tour). REPLACEMENT PROGRAM: Eddie Peet will give a short explanation of the evocative analogies in the verse at the end of the Diamond Cutter Sutra:
“So you should view this fleeting world —
A star at dawn, a bubble in a stream,
A flash of lightening in a summer cloud,
A flickering lamp, a phantom, and a dream.”
After the break we will recite the Diamond Cutter Sutra together as a group, so we can create the much needed merit for future tours and visits from our precious Geshes.

REPLACEMENT PROGRAM: This evening we will recite the Diamond Cutter Sutra together as a group, so we can create the much needed merit for future tours and visits from our precious Geshes. Eddie Peet will also give a short talk on the extraordinary discovery of this sutra – the world’s first printed book – and how it was very nearly lost to us in several times over. The background and history of this short yet powerful sutra is fascinating and reads like a modern adventure or thriller.
