SUMMARY:Mindful Crafting and Painting
DESCRIPTION:(IN-PERSON) This relaxed\, artist‑led session brings toget
her concentration\, mindfulness\, and simple arts and crafts in a suppor
 tive\, low‑pressure setting. It is a mindful crafting session\, not a
formal meditation class\, offering a calm\, focused space to slow down\,
create with intention\, and enjoy quiet company. Open to both Buddhists
and non‑Buddhists\, the afternoon is especially welcoming for those s
eeking relaxation\, meaning\, and a gentle way to unwind without expecta
tions.\n\n\n\nThe session is led by LTC’s Resident Artist\, Helene Hol
land\, who introduces creative activity as a way to cultivate attention\
, steadiness\, and ease through art. No artistic experience is needed.\n
\n\n\nWhat to ExpectHelene will guide participants in the mindful painti
ng of tsa-tsas—small\, flat‑backed Buddha statues traditionally crea
ted as a contemplative and devotional practice. All materials are provid
ed\, and you’ll be supported to work at your own pace in a quiet\, enc
ouraging environment. All skill levels are welcome to join this artist-l
ed journey of self-discovery. Along the way\, Helene will share:\n\n\n\n
\nTraditional Tibetan symbolism\n\n\n\nArtist tips and gentle guidance (
entirely optional)\n\n\n\nThe meaning and intention behind “offering p
aint” as a focused\, calming activity\n\n\n\n\nPainting tsa tsas is tr
aditionally dedicated to five intentions: the holy gurus\, one’s paren
ts\, the sick and vulnerable\, those who have died\, and one’s own inn
er growth. Participation in this aspect is optional and explained in an
 accessible\, non‑dogmatic way.\n\n\n\nWhen finished\, you may take you
r tsa tsa home or choose to leave it as part of the library’s display
wall.\n\n\n\nBring Your Own Project If you prefer\, you’re warmly welc
ome to bring a personal\, quiet creative project—such as crochet\, dra
wing\, embroidery\, or Dharma art—and work alongside others in a share
d\, mindful atmosphere.\n\n\n\nWhy Attend This session is about gentle f
ocus\, creativity\, and rest rather than formal practice or performance.
Painting\, colouring\, and handwork naturally support a state of flow\,
making this an ideal activity for introverts and anyone seeking calm co
nnection without small talk or pressure.\n\n\n\nCome as you are\, create
in your own way\, and enjoy a peaceful afternoon of mindful making.\n\n
\n\n“If you look at a statue or painting of the Buddha\, just in that
moment you create far greater merit than making offering of 100 divine f
oods (nectar) and 100 divine dresses (the most precious and expensive dr
esses—all the human beings’ wealth is not enough to buy even one dev
a’s realm necklace) to solitary realizer arhats equalling the number o
f dust particles of the universe every day for 100 eons.”Shakyamuni Bu
ddha\,&nbsp\;Sutra of the Mudra Developing the Power of Devotion\n\n\n\n

noon\n\n\n\nProvided MaterialsWe supply everything you need for the mind
 ful painting of tsa-tsas (traditional flat-backed statues).\n\n\n\nBring
Your OwnAlternatively\, feel free to bring a personal creative project
(crochet\, drawing\, embroidery) and "supercharge" your hobby in a suppo
 rtive\, meditative space.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOther Commu
