From Afflictions to Perfections

(IN-PERSON) This is not your average board game — it’s a joyful way to share our study and experiences on the path to enlightenment. Connect with fellow students, enjoy insights, laughter, and meaningful conversations!

Invented right here at LTC by Miffi – who printed and laminated every single card – this is a highly enjoyable way to integrate your Buddhist study and connect deeply with your Dharma buddies. We share stories of our own experiences, successes, and challenges along the Dharma path.

This game forms part of our Discovering Buddhism assessment. Rather than public exams or debates, we try to encourage non-confrontational (and highly enjoyable) ways to integrate Dharma study with lived experience.

Loosely inspired by Monopoly, this game uses unique lamrim cards to explore how we overcome negative mental states and cultivate positive qualities. But unlike Monopoly, the goal isn’t to become a property tycoon — it’s to become a fully enlightened buddha for the benefit of all!

We play in small groups, often in pairs, helping each other along the way. The game unfolds at a relaxed pace, with the aim of collecting positive cards and discarding negative ones as “true cessations.” Instruction cards prompt players to reflect on their own life and study, and a handy cheat-sheet booklet helps everyone stay on track and support one another.

Each card represents a quality or challenge we encounter on the path, making the game both educational and deeply personal.
