Starting Point Beginner’s Welcome
Saturday 6 April @ 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Interested in courses on Buddhism, meditation or emotional balance, but unsure where to begin? Come along to our beginner’s orientation, enjoy a short guided meditation, discover our program, and share delicious chai tea afterwards.
During our time together, you’ll meet our volunteers, have a tour of the centre, learn how to get involved, and be introduced to key concepts of Buddhist thought and practice.
This get-together is your chance to discover more about what LTC has to offer, and figure out which program areas will best suit you. Discover what our broad curriculum has to offer to both Buddhists, non-Buddhist – and even the non-religious! We have both in-person and online classes, which you can mix and match. All classes are by donation.
We hold this Beginner’s Welcome every couple of months. It is hosted by teachers and volunteers at the centre. You also have the opportunity to meet and get to know some of the western Buddhist nuns, over delicious chai and snacks.
“The centre is in this world to educate people … giving education in how to practice kindness toward others in everyday life.”– Lama Zopa Rinpoche

“Our work is to educate people that the ultimate source of the happy individual, happy family, happy community, and finally happy humanity — even happy world — ultimately depends on warm-heartedness. This is not just the concern of religious people; it is the concern of humanity as a whole.”– HH the Dalai Lama
