Shamatha Practice – Mindfulness of Breathing

Learn how to cultivate and enhance attention skills, how to strengthen your faculty of mindfulness, and develop a relaxed yet focused mind.

Within Buddhism this training is often referred to as shamatha practice – the practice of cultivating a calm, clear and focused mind.

Join internationally renowned mindfulness practitioner Glen Svensson, graduate of the FPMT Masters Program, and recent tutor for Alan Wallace’s retreat, for a unique immersive event to develop shamatha, the essential foundation to emotional stability and any success in life.

During each class we will focus on using the breath as our object. Using the breath is particularly recommended for those who have highly discursive minds and find it difficult to remain in the present moment.

Three variations of this practice will be presented during this program: 1.)Full-body breath practice, 2) Focusing at the abdomen and 3) Focusing at the entrance of the nostrils. Also included will be instructions on using the shavasana posture in meditation practice.

Since 2005, Glen has taught and led meditation retreats in India, Europe, North America and Australia. With his clear and structured teaching style, Glen emphasises the integration ​of philosophical ​view, meditation and daily life conduct. These eight online sessions will include the presentation, powerpoint slides with all the essential points, and an interactive question and answer at the end of each class.
