POSTPONED: Prayers for the Bardo
Sunday 22 May @ 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm
When our loved ones pass away we may feel that we are no longer of help, but quite the contrary, it is through the strength of our karmic connection, our heart relationship, that we can most benefit others in their forward journey.
Today’s prayers and meditation are to support those journeying through the bardo from this life to the next, and to offer comfort and resilience for those who are mourning them.
It may seem that once a loved one has died we are not able to help them anymore. We may feel quite adrift and helpless. But Buddhism has some wonderful practices that provide us with an opportunity to help those who on their journey though the intermediate state, the bardo. We also have practices that in turn support and comfort those of us remaining in this life who are grieving.
The time that we come together once a month will be a moment of quiet prayer and reflection. Our prayers for the beloved person or our cherished animal, wandering through the bardo, will help their course to be clear and for them to obtain a precious human rebirth. It will also help us – to remain courageous and cultivate inner resilience in the face of change.
Presented by western Buddhist nun:
You are welcome to bring a photograph of your loved one to place on the altar during our prayers. This event is held on the fourth Sunday of the month.

The whole thing, so many practices, all come down to live the daily life with bodhicitta motivation to put all the effort in that whatever you do. This way your life doesn’t get wasted and it becomes full of joy and happiness, with no regrets later, especially when you die and you can die with a smile outside and a smile in the heart.Lama Zopa Rinpoche
