Mindful Parenting

Raising content, happy children! Learn simple ways to increase connection with your family for happier kids and more peaceful parents. Scientific research has shown mindfulness can help adults and children manage stress and anxiety; improve attention and focus; and increase well-being and self-awareness. Discover skills and qualities that will stand children in good stead for the rest of their lives, as well as contribute to the evolution of a peaceful, harmonious world.

Topics to be discussed include: What is mindfulness? What is mindful parenting? What are its benefits for children and parents/caregivers? Strategies to live a more mindful life. Simple ways to help children practice mindfulness.

The session will be led by hands-on grandmother and Buddhist nun, Ven. Lozang Drolkar, who is also leading sessions at QPAC’s 2016 Out of the Box Festival. Ordained in the tradition of H.H. the Dalai Lama, Ven. Drolkar has a degree in Applied Ethics, leads classes in mindfulness at Griffith University and Langri Tangpa Buddhist Centre and loves to laugh.
