An accessible and highly relevant teaching for modern times, mind training helps develop the altruistic attitude, and transform adversity into advantage. These instructions help us to open our heart, develop wisdom, and overcome difficulty. Geshe-la is, warm, humble and his kindness is palpable. He teaches through a translator, Israeli-born monk Ven. Kartzon.
The mind training teachings are concerned with developing the altruistic mind of enlightenment, and deal with transforming our mental attitudes, especially with how to transform adversity into advantage. The Mind Training Like Rays of the Sun exemplifies Je Tsong Khapa’s presentation of mind training. What is distinctive about this presentation is that it combines both the mind training instructions as they are recorded in Geshe Chekawa’s text with the pattern of the Stages of the Path.
Geshe Tsultrim will only have four teachings with us this term! He will visit us here at LTC on Friday fortnights in August and September, giving a commentary on this inspiring and useful text. He is the resident teacher at our sister centre, Chenrezig Institute, in the Sunshine coast hinterland. Join us for soup and socialising from 6 pm before the teaching (by donation), or else BYO dinner and eat it at leisure and enjoying good company!
