Meditation: Calm, Cleanse and Inspire
Sunday, 9 March 2025 @ 10:30 am – 12:00 pm
Spend a relaxed morning enjoying a guided meditation with the nuns! Mindfulness breathing followed by a cleansing meditation on the Buddha. Please stay on afterwards for some delicious chai tea in reception!
Enjoy the peaceful ambience of our meditation hall, and be guided in meditations led by the LTC nuns. Each month features a new series of guided meditations, suitable for the complete beginner, as well as a great chance to ‘top-up’ for regular students. There is no need to be a Buddhist to come along and enjoy the meditation!
The class begins with settling the posture and a simple mindfulness meditation, which is a non-religious and universally effective method to calm the mind. This is followed by a short talk given by the LTC nuns. There is an opportunity to ask questions in an informal setting, and discuss current events from a Buddhist perspective.
The second meditation is focused on the Buddha and includes a gentle guided visualisation, and chanting the Shakyamuni Buddha mantra that can help overcome disturbing emotions, stress and negative karma. We end with heartfelt dedications for healing, for oneself, loved ones, and the world.
“The real practice of Dharma, the real meditation, is never to harm others. This protects our own peace of mind and that of other being. This is the true religious practice; it brings benefits to both others and ourselves.”
– Lama Zopa Rinpoche
