Meditation: Aspects of Enlightenment

Event Series Event Series (See All)

Sunday 6 April @ 10:30 am 12:00 pm

Uncover the hidden potential for enlightenment within your own mind with these guided meditations on the aspects of enlightenment. Enjoy the peaceful ambience of our meditation hall and be guided in meditations on the different aspects of enlightenment: wisdom, compassion, activity, health, and energy. Two short sessions with a chance for questions in between. You don’t need to be Buddhist to enjoy and benefit from these meditations—everyone is welcome. Please stay on for our delicious chai afterwards!

We teach (and practice) authentic meditation techniques from the tradition of Tibetan Buddhism, a lineage originating from the Buddha himself more than 2,500 years ago. Tibetan Buddhism has a rich tradition of meditation on the myriad forms of the Buddha, an entire spectrum to meet the needs of living beings. While each Buddha is fully enlightened, their special dedication to helping sentient beings means we access profound techniques to address the specific situations we find ourselves in:

Green Tara’s enlightened activity (for getting unstuck, protection from fear)
Medicine Buddha’s healing (for pacifying physical and emotional turmoil)
Manjushri’s wisdom (for memory, eloquence, and understanding)
Vajrasattva’s purification (of negative karma and habitual tendencies)
White Tara’s longevity (for balanced health and far-reaching realisations)

You don’t need to be a Buddhist to enjoy the benefits of a practice that has been developed over thousands of years. All religions and levels of ability are welcome at our centre. These guided meditations are suitable for complete beginners as well as more established meditators looking to ‘top-up’. Classes are held in the meditation hall (gompa), a profoundly peaceful, comfortable, and inspiring space filled with beautiful and authentic Buddhist art.
