Recurring Event Event Series: Healing Anxiety and Depression

STARTING TODAY – Healing Anxiety and Depression: Integrating Theory Into Life

Virtual Events Virtual Events

Saturday 8 October @ 9:00 am 10:30 am

This follow-up course to Healing Anxiety and Depression (part 1) will be much more interactive – you will need to bring your questions! Using Buddhist psychology to cut through the root of sadness and fear, reveal the innate goodness and peace at the heart of our being.

We are not short of problems – but approaching them from a Dharma perspective takes presence of mind. It can be quite tricky to apply Buddhist psychology to our own life – what seems so clear in theory can become a tangle of confusion and bamboozlement!

The classes will be in three sections: a short presentation of the topic, then some substantial time for discussion, and ending with a guided meditation.

Preparation:
Please view the Youtube classes from the first Healing Anxiety and Depression (part 1) course. They will help you become familiar with any new terminology, and you will be able to immerse yourself in the monumental paradigm shift that is Buddhist psychology – ready for the course ahead!

You can start watching them all now, or dedicate some time each week to immerse yourself in an episode before each class during this course (part 2).

Fill out Reflection Sheets:
A great place to begin the inner journey of this course is by printing and filling out the reflection sheet each week. They are nice and short – just enough to get your own questions going!

Topics include:
– Buddhist psychology as a science of the mind, naturally pure, yet polluted
– Investigating the nature of identity to develop natural confidence and self-worth
– Step-by-step methods to counter disturbing emotions
– Difference between attachment and love, craving and kindness
– Cultivating patience to overcome hostility and frustration
– How to listen to the hidden wisdom in depression and anxiety
– Methods to break the habit of worry deconstruct the toxic depression cycle
– Simple techniques to cultivate positive states of mind

These methods are not just for Buddhists, they are universal and helpful for everyone. The classes are sequential, but you are most welcome to join at any time, as each class features a standalone topic.

“Remember that the nature of your mind is clear light, buddha nature, so you can be free from all problems. The delusions, all the mistakes of the mind, are all temporary. Even though delusions have a beginning, they can be ended. That is why stains, all suffering, which comes from delusions, can be pacified. Buddha explained all the methods and path to do that. By practicing that, you can definitely overcome them.”
