Guru Puja in English & Tibetan

Hybrid Hybrid Events

Tuesday 13 June @ 6:30 pm 8:30 pm

Nurture the powerful potential for spiritual growth with a ceremony rich in symbolism. Reliance on our spiritual teacher is the foundation of all spiritual progress, and this ceremony helps us create mountains of merit and purify broken samaya.

To complete the path to enlightenment we need to maintain a strong and pure relationship with the guru. We do this by relating to the different aspects of the guru, and to ultimately bring forth the inner guru, the purity of our own mind. This puja contains the whole path to enlightenment, and creates a powerful potential for spiritual growth.

The prayers include calling the lama from afar, lineage prayers, re-taking one’s vows, and Tsog offering. In the puja we pay homage to the lineage lamas and their vast qualities, using the traditional Tibetan tunes that are said to come from the dakinis and bless one’s mindstream. They carry a power and blessing in themselves, moving both the heart and the mind.

Tsog is offered on the Tibetan 10th and 25th of each month, as a way to hasten realisations. Each time various prayers will be done in English so we can become familiar with the meaning and purpose of each.

Everyone is welcome to join us, although the practice is especially important for those with an HYT initiation or a commitment to learn and perform this practice.

“This Guru Puja is described as the very heart or essence of the ear-whispered lineage of the transformed scripture of Ganden. It means that this is a most precious teaching & the quickest way to achieve enlightenment.”

– Lama Zopa Rinpoche

Donate to a Puja

Can’t make it to puja but still want to be involved? You can make your donation here and we will purchase offerings on your behalf.

If you wish, email in a dedication to be read at puja, or come along via zoom and dedicate on the night.

Donations can also be made via bank transfer: Langri Tangpa Centre Inc, ANZ Bank, BSB 014-508, Account 498788594, REF puja.

Lama Zopa Rinpoche gave us specific advice when we first moved to Camp Hill, that in order for the centre to survive and to flourish we needed great stores of merit. One of the practices he recommended was for us to do Tara Puja and Medicine Buddha Puja together as a group. So even if you cannot be there physically, you can still be very much involved. In this way, we can all contribute to the continuation of our wonderful LTC.

Many of us in the modern world are time-poor, but this need not be an obstacle to participating in the spiritual heart of Langri Tangpa Centre – the pujas and practices. Reading dedications from our people that couldn’t make it on the night helps to develop a sense of community, and brings a face to the dedication “for all sentient beings”.
