Fire Purification Puja

Saturday 15 June @ 2:00 pm 4:00 pm

A ritual burning practice where we offer all our problems to the fire. We write any illnesses, disturbing emotions, regrets, fears and anxieties on little pieces of paper, and offer them to Dorje Khadro, the Buddha’s wisdom-fire (manifesting on our little portable BBQ!). As we ritually offer them to the fire, Dorje Khadro’s blazing wisdom transforms them into bliss and emptiness.

This is a powerful way to cleanse the problems and difficulties of the year, purify mistakes and negative actions we may have committed or destructive things we may have said. This is a wonderfully effective way to finish the term clean and clear.

You also have the opportunity to bring in any accumulated Dharma burning, which will be collected in a secure bin and disposed of in a respectful manner on the day of the puja. You will have the preceding two weeks to BYO “Dharma Burning” (notes, calendars, photocopies of teaching you no longer need).

**Please pre-sort your Dharma burning!
Please pre-sort it before you bring it in to LTC, or you will not be able to dispose of it yet! Just spend a couple of evenings in front of the TV, or over a cup of tea with a friend, cutting out all the images of the holy forms, so we do not destroy them and thus set a precedent for destroying our connection with them! Please cut out images of the gurus, Buddhas, mandalas and deities, and respectfully store them in a large clean envelope.

“To put an end to our samsaric suffering, we must do two things: One is to purify the negative actions we’ve done every day of our lives and in our infinite previous lives as well. We also have to change our minds and actions and abstain from creating further negativities.”

– Lama Zopa Rinpoche
