Join us on one of the most auspicious days of the year, with a special Medicine Buddha Puja, mountains of offerings, and community dedications. The Day of Miracles comes at the culmination of two weeks of Auspicious Buddha Days, from Losar onward (Tibetan New Near). The results of actions done on these days are greatly multiplied, so it’s a very powerful time of year for practice, goal-setting, making donations, and aspiriational prayers for oneself and prayers for world peace and enlightenment for others.
The Medicine Buddha Puja is sung entirely in English, and enjoyed Buddhists and non-Buddhists alike. Bring your medicines and put them on the altar to be blessed, and then take them home again. All welcome – especially beginners! No need to book, just come along.
We make special prayers to each of the seven healing Buddhas and read their specific abilities and promises to help beings. We say prayers and mantras for sick friends and relatives, for the success of all our positive endeavours, and everyone has the opportunity to make individual dedications while we offer and drink the tea. Just hearing the names of the Medicine Buddhas, and the many ways they promised to help beings, can remove external obstacles and internal problems.
The Healing Buddha, has promised to help all those who are sick and dying. He is depicted holding a bowl continuing the five kinds of medicines. This puja helps to clear and avert obstacles due to sickness and diseases. The blessings from Medicine Buddha prevents one from falling into the lower states of rebirth. Those already in a lower state of rebirth will be quickly liberated and will take rebirth in a precious human body. The Medicine Buddha puja is specifically recommended by our teacher Kyabje Zopa Rinpoche as the Medicine Buddha is particularly effective during these difficult times.
