Compassion Practice – Four Immeasurables

Cultivate the positive qualities of compassion and kindness, avoid burnout, and put in place strategies to deal with anger and attachment.

Over five evening sessions we will be looking at how to cultivate the positive qualities such as loving-kindness and compassion. In Buddhism this is often simply referred to as compassion practice.

This program will primarily focus on the four immeasurables of loving-kindness, compassion, empathetic joy and equanimity. These four universal qualities are essential for creating harmony, within the family, in the workplace, and between countries. They are skills we can all develop – there is no need to be Buddhist, or even religious, to appreciate their value and enjoy their benefits.

The beginning of the course will focus on developing the qualities of kindness and concern, and the later sessions will focus on how to transform the self-centered attitude into the attitude of cherishing others, with a particular emphasis on the tong-len (giving & taking) practice. In the context of discussing these practices we will also look at how to deal with anger and attachment.

This is the third course in the series will run on Monday and Wednesdays evenings. If you cannot make it to all sessions, you can purchase a package and then contact us for the soundfile links to catch up.
