Join the LTC nuns in a most peaceful and meaningful way to spend a morning or evening! There is no need to be a Buddhist to come along and enjoy the meditation!
We have a COVID-safe plan, and all our in-person meetings stringently adhere to physical distancing, hygiene, and thorough cleaning after each class. There is a 22 person limit in the gompa, and all seating is spaced appropriately. We encourage you to wear a facemask, and have them freely available at the door for anyone who needs. We ask you to observe physical distancing, and to stay home if feeling even slightly unwell, with any cold or flu like symptoms, as well as allergies.
The class begins with settling the posture and a simple mindfulness meditation, which is a non-religious and universally effective method to calm the mind. This is followed by a short talk given by the LTC western nuns. There is an opportunity to ask questions and discus a Buddhist perspective on current events.
The second meditation is focused on the Buddha and includes a gentle guided visualisation, and chanting the Shakyamuni Buddha mantra that can help overcome disturbing emotions, stress and negative karma. We end with heartfelt dedications for healing, for oneself, loved ones, and the world.
