ANDY WEBER: Artist’s Open House

Saturday 7 October @ 9:30 am 4:30 pm

A special event for all of Andy’s existing students from the many years he has been teaching and guiding students here. Bring your current Buddhist art projects (along with paints and implements), and receive personal tuition from a master in the field.

Andy will devote all day Saturday and Sunday afternoon to inspecting and guiding you in completing your art works. Please bring all relevant equipment and materials with you as well as your art, so that Andy can show you the tips and tricks of the trade!

These private tuition sessions will have an emphasis on canvas making. Andy’s assistant Anton will demonstrate an easy method, as well as gold preparation, shading techniques, and outlining. Useful hints to make a thangkha including designs on the robes. The morning session will include a meditation.

An in-depth workshop such as this, with an individualised critique of your work, is most suited to Andy’s existing students, but is open to everyone currently involved in studying or producing traditional Tibetan Buddhist art.

“The material objects you see on the altar and hanging on the walls of this meditation hall, these statues and thangkas, are symbolic. What do they symbolize? Wisdom, or understanding. Tibetan Buddhist psychology would say that these physical objects are talking to you beyond words.”

– Lama Thubten Yeshe
