In-depth Buddhism

Discovering Buddhism: awakening the limitless potential of your mind, achieving all peace and happiness. This is a 3-year course consisting of 14 units and around 8 weeks each. You can join at the beginning of any unit (don't wait until the three years is up!). This course gives participants a solid footing in the practice of Mahayana Buddhism. They outline the essential points, provide an experiential taste of the Buddha's teachings, and develop the skills needed to make our lives most meaningful.

Other in-depth courses include training in Buddhist rituals, on-going study groups, and weekend workshops on intermediate topics such as bodhicitta, emptiness, calm abiding and tong-len.

Discovering Buddhism Orientation

Just beginning Discovering Buddhism? Coming back for another round? Overview of the topics and activities, how and when to get started, and how this course fits into your own personal journey towards enlightenment! This class has essential information for returning students, and is a great introduction for those just joining this 3-year course.

Coffee & Catch-up

Join us for a relaxed Dharma get-together before class. Get to know your fellow class-mates, discover similarities in your practice and application of the class material, and take the time to discover the wonderful LTC community - all with a selection of free coffee and tea, of course!

Lamrim Chenmo

An in-depth study of Lama Tsong Khapa's Great Treatise on the Stages of the Path to Enlightenment. The Lam Rim is the collected teachings and practices of the Buddha presented in methodical way, in the order we are to practice them if we want to reach enlightenment for the benefit of others. Now is the time for NEW PEOPLE interested in joining the group, as we are about to begin a new section! Speak with Miffi or Eddie for details.

Mind and Its Potential

This is the first unit of the 3-year course - what a great time to start! Begin with the fuindamentals underlying all Buddhist thought and practice - the mind. Examine what the nature of the mind is, and how it creates all happiness and suffering. Learn to transform destructive thoughts and attitudes to create a positive and joyous mind!

Refuge in the Three Jewels

Get informed about what it means to take refuge in the three jewels - the Buddha, his teachings, and the spiritual community). Find out about the lay vows, refuge commitments and essential practices. (This course is a pre-requisite for all those wishing to take Refuge at the end of the year)
