In-depth Buddhism

In-depth Buddhism

Discovering Buddhism: awakening the limitless potential of your mind, achieving all peace and happiness. This is a 3-year course consisting of 14 units and around 8 weeks each. You can join at the beginning of any unit (don't wait until the three years is up!). This course gives participants a solid footing in the practice of Mahayana Buddhism. They outline the essential points, provide an experiential taste of the Buddha's teachings, and develop the skills needed to make our lives most meaningful.

Other in-depth courses include training in Buddhist rituals, on-going study groups, and weekend workshops on intermediate topics such as bodhicitta, emptiness, calm abiding and tong-len.

Wisdom of Emptiness

The wisdom realising emptiness is the crucial tool that will take us to enlightenment. Without it we cannot cut the root cause of the disturbing emotions or become liberated from cyclic existence. Learn to develop the reasoning that underpins this precise and complex skill, and how to apply it in daily life for immediate results.

Presenting the Path

Get an overview of the entire Buddhist path to awakening. Hear about the life story of the Buddha and study the basic teachings of Buddhism. Discover the unique system for putting Buddhist philosophy into practice contained in the Lam Rim, or "graduated path to enlightenment".

Coffee & Catch-up

Join us for a relaxed Dharma get-together before class. Get to know your fellow class-mates, discover similarities in your practice and application of the class material, and take the time to discover the wonderful LTC community - all with a selection of free coffee and tea, of course!

Introduction to Tantra

Learn the definition of tantra, how tantra works and why it is a powerful form of practice. Get a broad overview of the four classes of tantra and learn how to practice simple kriya tantric methods. In addition, find out how to integrate the practices of tantra with lam rim for optimal results.

Lamrim Chenmo

An in-depth study of Lama Tsong Khapa's Great Treatise on the Stages of the Path to Enlightenment. The Lam Rim is the collected teachings and practices of the Buddha presented in methodical way, in the order we are to practice them if we want to reach enlightenment for the benefit of others. Now is the time for NEW PEOPLE interested in joining the group, as we are about to begin a new section! Speak with Miffi or Eddie for details.

The Spiritual Teacher

Investigate the role of the teacher on the spiritual path: the need for a teacher and the qualities to look for, the responsiblities of a student, and how to relate to a teacher for greatest benefit. Skilfully overcome the challenges we face when entering into a "guru-disciple" relationship.

From Afflictions to Perfections

This is a board game with a difference - and invented right here at Langri Tangpa Centre! From Afflictions to Perfections is loosely based on Monopoly, is played with unique Buddhist cards, and demonstrates how we can overcome the negative mental factors, and how tenacious we have to be to develop our positive qualities!
