From Afflictions to Perfections

This is a board game with a difference - and invented right here at Langri Tangpa Centre! From Afflictions to Perfections is loosely based on Monopoly, is played with unique Buddhist cards, and demonstrates how we can overcome the negative mental factors, and how tenacious we have to be to develop our positive qualities!

About the Evening

This is one of the rare 'social' events we hold at LTC, and is a great way to get to know your fellow students on a meaningfullevel. We share stories of our own experiences, successes and failures along the Dharma path, and the night always produces as much laughter and merriment as it does thought and concentration!

About the Game

It is loosely based on the Monopoly game, but encourages you to become a fully enlightened buddha, not a real-estate mogul! The deck is made up of 108 cards detailing the 6 Perfections, 11 positive mental factors, 6 root delusions and 20 secondary afflictions, the 4 Immeasurables, and other wild cards. There are also various instruction cards to pick up, asking for examples from the news or your own life that illustrate these mental factors.

This game was inspired by Geshe Jamyang's teachings and invented by Miffi Maxmillion. It had its world premier here at LTC on Losar, Tibetan New year. It is now used by other FPMT centres in Australia, and we offered a copy to Lama Zopa Rinpoche in Bendigo in April 2011.

  • Program Level: Intermediate
  • Leader: Miffi Maxmillion
  • Suggested Donation: $10/$5
  • Day & Time: 10.30 am - 12 pm
  • Associated Classes: Discovering Buddhism required activity
  • Dates: Tuesday 20 June, 2017
